A Sambalpuri dupatta is a traditional handwoven ikat dupatta wherein the warp and the weft are tie-dyed before weaving. Sambalpuri dupattas are known for their incorporation of traditional motifs like shankha (shell), chakra (wheel), phula (flower) but the highpoint of these dupattas is the traditional craftsmanship of the Bandhakala Maroon and black colour sambalpuri handloom ikat dupatta designed with traditional pasapalli motifs on the body, lineing design on border and shell design on bottom part of dupatta.
